Join our Entertainment Department and be a part of creating lasting magical memories for our guests every single day! Host our Cinemagic 3D Theatre experience, roam the pathways as part of our Street Character Cast, or perform in our live stage shows.

  • Calaway Live Cast – Open-Call Auditions for Dancers

    Audition to be a part of our 2019 Calaway Live Cast! We are hiring dancers for a chance to uplift and inspire our guests by performing in our high-energy theatrical dance productions.

    Audition Information

    Auditions are Open-Call (no pre-registration is required).

    Date: Saturday, February 2, 2019

    Time: All participants arrive at 9:30 am. Cuts will be made throughout the day. The latest the auditions will run is approximately 5:00pm.

    Where: The Metropolitan Centre (333 – 4th Avenue SW)

    There will be a short presentation at 9:30am for all participants. Dancers under the age of 18, please have a parent or guardian with you for the presentation. Parents will be excused for the remainder of the audition.

    Requirements
    • Must be at least 16 years old at the time of audition. Our young professional age group includes, but is not limited to, ages 16 through 22.
    • Formal dance training (any combination of jazz, ballet, tap, hip hop, etc.). Dancers with natural or freestyle dance skills and musical theatre experience are welcome. Must be able to understand a certain level of dance instruction.
    • Good work ethic, positive attitude, responsible, reliable and a team player.
    • Available for rehearsal and performance dates (See Contract Commitment below for dates).
    What You Need To Know
    1. Bring a resume and a recent photo. Include your previous employment history and your past performance training and experience. You will also be required to complete an application form on site.
    2. No performance preparation is necessary for the audition. The audition is run as a workshop, so be ready to learn choreography!
    3. Plan to be there all day. Bring a water bottle and a light lunch. Cuts will be made throughout the day.
    4. Dress in comfortable dance-rehearsal clothing (no jeans please).
    5. Plan to be available on Sunday, February 3rd in the event you receive a call-back.
    Contract Commitment

    This contract includes all rehearsal and performance dates. Once performances begin, it is part-time hours of about 5 hours a day, 5 days a week through the summer. Wages starts at $17.00/hr.

    Rehearsals: Rehearsals run from 5:00pm to 9:30pm on Sunday nights in March, April, May and June.

    Rehearsals are held at Evergreen Community Studios in central Calgary. Rehearsals move on-site to Calaway Park mid-June for tech and dress rehearsals. You will be required to provide your own transportation to and from rehearsals. We are open to discussing minor date conflicts you may have with the rehearsal schedule.

    Performing Schedule: Shows open at the end of June and run 5 afternoons per week in the summer throughout July and August to Labor Day weekend. They then continue during weekends in September and October through to Thanksgiving Day. The Calaway Park Team Member Bus Service is available to take Calaway Live Cast Members to and from the Park. Please note: Vacation time during July and August is difficult to accommodate in this contract.

  • Street Character Cast – Open-Call Auditions for Male & Female Actors

    Audition to be a part of our 2019 Street Character Cast! We are looking for individuals to help us create magical memories for our guests as roaming photo op characters. Encourage imagination as fairies; make dreams come true as princes and princesses; inspire creativity as a kid inventor and his robot invention; and more!

    Audition Information

    Auditions are Open-Call (no pre-registration is required).

    Date: Saturday, February 2, 2019

    Time:  11:00 am to 1:00 pm

    Where: The Metropolitan Centre (333 – 4th Avenue SW)

    Requirements
    • Must be at least 16 years old at the time of audition. Our character cast age group includes, but is not limited to, ages 16 through 22.
    • Previous theatre and acting experience.
    • Comfortable dressing in costume and performing as a range of characters.
    • Able to engage and interact with guests of all ages with enthusiasm.
    • Good work ethic, positive attitude, responsible, reliable, and a team player
    • Due to costume restrictions, all applicants must be in average to slender or athletic shape. Male applicants must be between 5’10 to 6’2.
    • Available for rehearsal and performance dates (See Contract Commitment below for dates).
    What You Need To Know
    1. Bring a resume and a recent photo. Include your previous employment history and your past performance training and experience. You will also be required to complete an application form on site.
    2. No performance preparation is necessary for the audition. The audition is run as a workshop.
    3. Dress in comfortable clothing ready to do movement (no jeans please).
    4. Select individuals will advance to the second step of our audition/interview process. Plan to be available on Sunday, February 10th in the event that you are selected for an interview.
    Contract Commitment

    The Street Character Cast contract includes all rehearsal and performance dates. It is a part-time seasonal position. Wage starts at $17.00/hr.

    Rehearsals:  Rehearsals run on the evenings of May 5, 8, and 9, 2019. All three are mandatory. Rehearsals will be held on-site at Calaway Park. You will be required to provide your own transportation to and from rehearsals.

    Performing Schedule: It includes 1-2 days on weekends in May, June, September, and October through to Thanksgiving and 3-5 days per week in July and August. The Calaway Park Team Member Bus Service is available to take Street Character Cast Members to and from the Park.

    Please note: Vacation in July & August is difficult to accommodate.

  • 3D Theatre Host

    Apply to be a part of our small specialized team of 3D Theatre Hosts! We are looking for individuals that are able to bring our Cinemagic 3D characters to life through dressing up, engaging with our guests and inviting them to enjoy our 3D experience.

    How to Apply

    Applications are accepted starting December 1.

    Submit an online application HERE and put “THEATRE HOST” in the position you are applying for. Select applicants will be contracted by a Calaway Park representative to set up an interview in January and February.

    Requirements
    • Must at least 16 years of age by May.
    • Must be theatre-minded or have theatre experience.
    • Able to engage and interact with guests of all ages with enthusiasm.
    • Good work ethic, positive attitude, responsible, reliable, and a team player
    Seasonal Commitment

    The hours for this position are 1-2 days on weekends in May, June, September, and October through to Thanksgiving and 4-5 days per week in July and August. Wage starts at $15.40/hr.

    Please note: Vacation in July & August is difficult to accommodate.

  • Community Performance Groups

    Is your dance studio looking for a fun performing opportunity outside of competitions? Calaway Park books dance studios and other community group performances for show times at the park, highlighting the amazing talent and programs in our city.

    Perform 1-2 shows on one day and receive free admission for your performers, instructors and chaperones. This is a great program to enhance the profile of your studio, give your performers a public performance opportunity, and create a fun social day for your group!

    Please note: Performances are held on our outdoor Celebration Square Stage and are sometimes subject to weather cancellation. Dates and timeslots are limited, as is the size of group to accommodate. Performances are booked in January/February for May and June weekend dates only.

  • Professional Street or Stage Acts

    Calaway Park contracts a variety of professional stage acts (magic, music, dance, puppetry, comedy, etc) and roaming performers (clowns, jugglers, stilt-walkers, ventriloquists, characters, etc). We offer fair rates, an opportunity for multiple-date bookings, and a fun, safe and clean work environment.

    Please note: Calaway Park contracts family-friendly entertainment appropriate for all ages (Target market is young families with kids aged 3 to 12).
